In Uzhgorod, Tomas Masaryk Park is opened (PHOTOS)
Today, September 7, in Uzhgorod the opening ceremony of the restored park named after the first president of Czechoslovakia, Tomas Masaryk, took place. More precisely, the restoration has just begun. The ceremony was attended by the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Ivan Baloga, Uzhgorod Mayor Victor Pogorelov, deputy head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Ivan Kachur and representatives of Czech Visochina.
Victor Pogorelov noted that Masaryk invested a lot in the development of Uzhgorod, therefore residents of the city should honor him. He also noted the symbolism of the fact that the park opens on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the death of the President of Czechoslovakia (September 14).
Regional Council Chairman Ivan Baloga said that Tomas Masaryk not only managed Transcarpathian region, which was part of Czechoslovakia, but also loved it as his own home, so he put so much effort into the development of Transcarpathia.
After the speeches the officials laid flowers to Tomas Masaryk bust.
