In Uzhgorod Roma camp was bombarded with “Molotov cocktails” (PHOTOS)

On September 4, in the Roma camp on the Timiryazeva street in Uzhgorod a group of unknown people tried to set fire to houses where Roma live.

It happened around 5:00 am when inhabitants were still asleep. Several bottles of flammable mixture was thrown on the rooftops, four more bottles the police later found in the grass. The sleeping residents were saved only by chance – a young guy came out on the street who first thought that the "fire from heaven" was falling. He awoke all tenants who extinguished the fire.

Several outfits of the City Police Department arrived at the scene, interviewed the victims, and set around the clock guarding around the camp.

Since the houses in this settlement nestle to each other and mainly have wooden walls, the consequences of arson could lead to many casualties.

According to Bogdan and Anna Tyrpak, they are afraid to sleep in their rooms and spend the night with their families on the streets.

Roma community of Uzhgorod is deeply concerned about this incident and appealed to the Uzhgorod police asking to find guilty of arson and provide maximum protection for Roma residents of the camp.
