Czech Consulate is planned to be opened in Uzhgorod
On Wednesday, September 26, head of the region Oleksandr Ledyda met with a delegation of the Committee on Education, Science and Human Rights of the Senate of the Czech Republic - senators Jiri Oberfalzer, Milos Janacek, Gana Doupovtsova and Karel Kapoun. The Ukrainian side was represented by deputy head of the region Ivan Kachur, deputy chairman of the regional council Andriy Serbaylo, heads of regional administrations. The Czech delegation was also represented by Consul General of the Czech Republic in Lviv David Pavlita and Consul Martina Pavlitova-Muhova.
According to official figures, today Czech Republic ranks eleventh in terms of foreign direct investment in Transcarpathia. Over six dozen Ukrainian-Czech enterprises operate in the region. Transcarpathia and the Czech Republic also share common history and have cultural ties. At present, more than three hundred citizens of the Czech Republic live in the regional center.
For now the nearest diplomatic office of Czech Republic is in Lviv. However, the Consul General of the Czech Republic in Lviv David Pavlita revealed plans to open a consular office in Transcarpathia:
- Today we consider the expediency of opening consulate in Uzhgorod. So far I have no accurate information on the timeframe and location, but I can assure you it is discussed at the highest level.
Senator Jiří Oberfalzer, for his part, assured that Czech Republic supports Ukraine's European aspirations. Also, the diplomat said: today the cooperation of the Senate with our land is concentrated on the exchange of experiences and educational projects. Currently 25 entrepreneurs from the region are ready to study the economic experience of the European country. Also nearly three dozen of our schools volunteered to the implementation of joint projects.
Representatives of the Czech delegation today will also visit UzhNU, the school with Slovak language training in Uzhgorod and meet with activists of Czech cultural associations - the press center of RSA informed.
