Only 5% of one billion hryvnias, allocated to preferential mortgage at 3%, will have been used by the end of the year.

This was announced by the Vice-Chairman of the parliamentary committee Igor Lysov.

He said that with the existing pace of this program implementation, no more than 50 million hryvnias could be utilized by the end of 2012.

"Society is not ready to receive money under such interest. We should promote this program so that people believed in it. They fear that if the next year the program ceases to exist, then the risks under bank loans will fall on families. That's why this program is implemented very cautiously," - said Lysov.

He said that the new Parliament should transfer 300 million allotted to the preferential mortgage for the current year in favor of affordable housing program, under which the government carries 30% of the purchase price.

Lysov also added that the state budget for 2012 provides 200 million hryvnias for this "30/70" program, of which only 26 million have been allocated.
