The criminal case over illegal logging near the Shypit waterfall has been instituted

The prosecutor of Mizhhirya district formed a group composed of representatives of "Mizhhiryaderzhspetslishosp" branch, State Land Committee in Mizhhirya district, and Mizhhirya District Police, which conducted field visit to verify the application of a local resident complaining of suspicious felling of trees near her house.

It was found out that on September 24 unknown persons in the "Shypit" tract near the waterfall committed illegal felling of conifer trees in total amount of more than 13 cubic meters.

As a result, the environment damage in excess of 42.5 thousand hryvnias was caused.

Mizhhirya District Prosecutor has instituted criminal proceedings over this fact on the grounds of Art. 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal cutting of forests, punishable by a fine of fifty to one hundred untaxed minimum incomes, or arrest for a term up to six months, or restraint of liberty for a term up to three years, or imprisonment for the same term, with the confiscation of illegally obtained property), - informed the press-service of the Prosecutor of the Transcarpathian region.
