Prices in Ukraine began to increase again

A small rise in inflation in September occured due to the rise of prices for fuel and educational services, while the food market still have not shown signs of inflation.

Contrary to the expectations of experts, the sharp price jump did not happen, because the cost of food, according to government estimates, continues to decline – even in September it dropped by 0.1%, writes "Kommersant-Ukraine".

The significant increase was recorded only on eggs price (15.9%), while prices for other products either rose slightly (milk – by 0.2%, butter and bread – by 0.1%), or declined.

In September, prices for the following products fell: vegetables (-5%), fruits (-2.3%), fish (-0.2%), butter (-0.2%) and sugar (-0.1%).

Imported goods showed the opposite trend.

Household goods cheapened (-0.1%), clothes and shoes have risen by the same amount.

Utility rates (+0.1%) practically have not been reviewed.

The overall inflation was caused by rising prices for fuel and lubricants (+1.5%), which is the largest rise since April (+5.1%).

In September the traditional at the beginning of the school year, increasing of the cost of educational services (by 2.7%) occured.

"Traditionally, at the end of year price growth rate accelerates. However, on the conditions of the current rate of hryvnia, the growth of prices will be moderate. Most likely at the year end the inflation will be below 3%" – predicts Head of Economic Research Department of Erste Bank Marian Zablotsky.

And only the weakening of the national currency may cause higher prices for imported goods.
