Chop customs officials seized a half undervalued truck

Inspectors of Operations Division of Anti-Smuggling Service of Chop customs during the control and registration of a truck, found fake information that would have led to almost 90 thousand hryvnias shortfalls in customs duties.
A 43-year-old Ukrainian driver of the "MAN" truck has provided customs officers with a copy of the expert cargo customs declaration by German customs authorities, which indicated the cost of the vehicle as 26 000 euros. However, the inspectors questioned the rather "symbolic" price of the truck, ceased its registration, and sent a request to the German colleagues to provide reliable data. Over time, the received copies of the original documents showed that the true cost of the truck was 55 thousand euros. Accordingly, the carrier should have paid customs duties in the amount of 185 000 UAH, not 98 000 UAH, which were initially calculated on the basis of submitted falsified documents.
According to Art.483, Part 1 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, the protocol over the violation of customs legislation has been written on the driver. The vehicle costing 580,000 UAH has been seized until the court decision - informed Victoria Senhetovska, spokeswoman of Chop customs.
