Transcarpathia, along with other regions (Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Lviv) form one of the largest tourist centers of the country. The Carpathian area ranks second in Ukraine in terms of revenue in the recreational sector – 22%. It is second only to the Crimea – 42%.
It was said by the head of the State Agency of Ukraine for Tourism and Resorts Olena Shapovalova during the scientific conference on integrated development of tourism in the Carpathian region.
"Now, the preparations for the tourist season in western Ukraine are in full swing. Soon a large number of tourists will be coming to the Carpathians for the winter holidays. Carpathian region ranks second in Ukraine in terms of revenue in the recreational sector – 22%. It is second only to the ARC. Given the historical, natural, geographical conditions, the Carpathian region has a chance to become a place where economic policy can combine regional, national, and international interests of the country, ensuring the progress in social and economic life," – said Olena Shapovalova.
