Brave, stubborn and clever - Volodymyr Smolanka talked about his favorite literary hero
September 30, on the Day of Ukrainian Libraries, regional deputy Volodymyr Smolanka congratulated librarians on their professional holiday. With best wishes he visited his beloved Regional Library for Children and Youth. The professor has many fond memories of this library as he was its most active reader.
Volodymyr Smolanka told the smallest visitors of the library that most of all he liked fascinating stories by Alfred Szklarski about the adventures of Tomek - a brave, intelligent and stubborn boy, who was a role model for many of his peers. These books about the Polish boy who fearlessly overcame any obstacles were once the most rare and therefore most read.
The professor remarked, that it is very important that in a time when computer science is developing, the book still retains its important status. Volodymyr Smolanka said the kids that they should treat books with respect. "Only someone who reads and knows a lot can achieve anything in life. A reading person thinks and can easily and eloquently express their opinion. And it is very important in the world of today" - he said to the kids. And to librarians - keepers of the treasury of knowledge, the candidate wished health and inspiration so that they continue with enthusiasm to acquaint children with the rich literary world.
