A million migrant workers will return to Ukraine in a year. Without money
Financial difficulties in the EU member states make Ukrainian migrant laborers think about homecoming. Without money
Such a scenario was revealed to the "Kommentarii" by Victor Gorobchuk, the head of the Italian Mission of UNESCO Programs Implementation Center, and the leader of the All-Ukrainian labor movement "Solidarity."
"I was recently in Italy, and I had a conversation with a man. This young man have been living there with his family for many years. He worked at the firm, installed air conditioners. In past years, he had a large number of orders. He had to work even on weekends. And this year, in six months he had no orders. You see what now is happening in Italy? And this man now says that he has to go back to Ukraine. He does not want to, but he cannot do anything. So, let's take any district center in Ternopil region - during six to twelve months about 2 thousand people of working age come there. And not plasterers, but former engineers, teachers. What should they do? There are no jobs for them. And if you take the total number in the country - about 1 million people will return. Our people try to remain there as long as possible, they are ready to work for food, but not to return to Ukraine. However, soon the flow begins," - he said.
According to the National Bank of Ukraine in the second quarter of 2012 Ukrainians working abroad sent home $ 1.782 billion, representing 4% of GDP.
Nearly UAH 6 million has already been allocated for the treatment of seriously ill residents of Mukachevo
