74 children were adopted in the Transcarpathian region during 9 months in 2012

This information was reported on Oct. 2 during the briefing by Svitlana Yakimelina, Chief of Juvenile Department of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.

Today out of the total number of orphans and children deprived of parental care, 709 are subject to adoption.

During the first 9 months of 2012, 74 were children adopted in the region, while during the same period in 2011 this number was 68 children, and during all of 2009 it was 65.

This year 23 adopted children in 10 families managed to save the relationship with the families.Three families adopted three children at once each. Also nine children were adopted from an orphanage for children with mental disabilities.

 - In the region national adoption prevails, meaning that most children, particularly 41, were adopted by families from Ukraine - said Svitlana Yakimelina. - Accordingly, 33 children were adopted by foreign nationals, out of this number - 24 children were taken by families from Italy. It is good that the number of adopted children in the region is increasing every year. Meanwhile, in Ukraine the indicators are not always so encouraging: both national adoption and adoption by foreign citizens in many regions is reducing, - reported the press-center of RSA.
