Victor Pogorelov: city government was not involved in the poisoning of dogs

In Uzhgorod people bring dead dogs to the city council. They light candles near them.

In such a way animal protect activists led by Vira Romanova started their rally against the inhumane actions of city government. As the coordinator of the project "Zoochance" Maria Trunova said, dogs these days were really poisoned, corpses of animals lie all over the city.

In a telephone conversation Victor Pogorelov clearly said that the city government was not involved in the poisoning of dogs. "It could have been done by anyone, maybe someone was bitten by a dog" - the mayor said.

When asked about shelter for animals, Mr. Pogorelov said that the city government has already made a road to its location and donated 30 acres of land near sewage treatment plants.  The rest is in the hands of the animal protect activists.
