In these moments the traffic on Fedynets street near the "Vopak" supermarket is blocked. The police surrounded the area, people from the pharmacy, coffee shop "San Marino" and nearby houses have been evacuated.
According to the policemen, who are at the scene, on the stairs leading from Fedynets street to the Greek Catholic Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, between the private house and the cafe "San Marino" an unknown object similar to an explosive has been found. The object was found on the seventh step.
In a telephone conversation the spokeswoman of TD of MOE in Transcarpathian region Natalia Batyr confirmed that the explosive object, namely, a mortar shell of WWII period, indeed had been found on the steps leading to Kapitulna street. According to her, the object was noticed by a local resident. The team of pyrotechnics went to the scene. After the examination the experts found out that it was a mortar mine of WWII period 50 mm in diameter. 
The police will investigate to determine who and with what purpose left the mine in the crowded place. And the mine, according to Natalia Batyr, will be disposed of today at the military training ground in the village of Orikhovytsya in Uzhgorod district.
