Today, what has long been reported by regional media happened officially. Major General Vasyl Vartsaba again headed the Transcarpathian police. Previously, he held this position from 2003 to 2005.
The Deputy Interior Minister Victor Ratushnyak presented the police officer. Also the ceremony was attended by head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ledyda, Uzhgorod Mayor Victor Pogorelov, heads of other security agencies of the region, a roomful of police chiefs from all districts of Transcarpathia and, of course, Vartsaba's predecessor Victor Rusin.
Victor Ratushnyak read the Order of the Minister under which Vasyl Vartsaba has been transferred from the the position of the police chief of Ivano-Frankivsk region to the similar position in our region.
As is customary on such occasions, Vasyl Vartsaba received the highest praise and gratitude for his "service to the people of Ukraine" from all the present officials. He himself was quite brief, said that he felt like he had returned from vacation, because he remembered many of the audience well, since he had already worked with them and promised to make all efforts to combat crime.
As for Victor Rusin, he also did not remain offended - by the other order of the Minister he was transferred to the position of the police chief in Vinnytsya region. At least outwardly Rusin was quite pleased with this transfer.
It did not go without some hints. Thus, the Deputy Interior Minister advised Vasyl Vartsaba to not "brandish his sword," but also added, that he must get rid of negligent colleagues who were in the room at the moment. He also reminded that the new criminal procedure code comes into force and expressed the confidence that it will be applied solely for the benefit of the Ukrainian people.
