Foreign investments in Uzhgorod increase
In January-September enterprises of Uzhgorod attracted 2.4 million U.S. dollars of foreign direct investments, which is almost three times more than in the same period last year. The structure of foreign direct investments amounted to 94% of cash contributions and 6% of contributions in the form of movable and immovable property.
As of October 1, 2012, the economy of Uzhgorod attracted 50.2 million U.S. dollars. By this indicator Uzhgorod is ranked third among the cities and districts of the region, preceded only by the city of Mukachevo and Uzhgorod district.
More than two-thirds of foreign direct investments is concentrated in industrial enterprises, of which more than half are other industries, tenth of the investments are in engineering, wood and wood products processing, light industry. During January-September 2012, Uzhgorod enterprises with foreign investment sold products amounting to 64.8 mln hryvnias, which is more than ten percent of the industrial production of Uzhgorod.
Investors from 31 countries took part in international investment cooperation of the city. More than half of the investments came from Poland, almost a third from the United States, Slovakia, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Austria and Switzerland.
