Mass media will monitor and conduct sociological surveys before elections according to Ledyda
A plan on the civil culture formation and the tolerance promotion in society was approved by the head of Trancarpathian Regional State Administration Alexandr Ledyda. Officials plan to pass the task of this level increasing to journalists.
According to the plan, the governor’s subordinates are obliged to promptly inform the public about the executive bodies’ work since June. It is planned to introduce series of TV programs, newspaper and internet resources sections, ‘which will promote social dialogue’. They are also suggested to distribute and post social advertising ‘aimed at the tolerance promotion in society’. It is planned to conduct sociological surveys quarterly at the budget expense. The newly created Public Information and Communications Department was instructed ‘to monitor the local print mass media of all the property forms in order to identify messages that can lead to incitement of national, racial or religious hostility and according to its results to take necessary measures in response’. On the eve of the public holiday celebration and mass events, officials were ordered ‘to hold meetings with the civil society institutions’ representatives in order to take appeals to the population in order to prevent conflicts during the mass events’, - said in the governor’s order.
