Another drug smuggler was detained by SSU in Transcarpathia

The SSU exposed the illegal activity of 32-year old citizen of Ukraine who has established the drugs smuggling transferring in the parcels and small packets with the use of international traffic buses through the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.

The bus that carried out the international route from Italy arrived in the town of Ternopil on June 19, 2012. The package with drugs was hidden in a parcel among food which the driver was supposed to transfer to a person who has met already baggage in Ukraine. The driver was not aware of the criminal transaction details.

Law enforcement officials arrester the perpetrator at one of the bus stations in the town of Ternopil when receiving a parcel in which there were 7,8 grams of cannabis tar.

The SSU investigators of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region initiated a criminal case in relation to the perpetrator under Part 2, Article 305 (narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors’ smuggling) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces imprisonment term from 5 to 10 years. Currently the detained is kept in custody.
