Trafficker of illegal immigrants sentenced to five years in prison

The verdict of Uzhgorod city district court of Transcarpathian region, concerning a 32-year-old resident of the village of Velyky Berezny, who had tried to illegally smuggle five Somalis through the Slovak-Ukrainian state border, entered into force.

It was found that in August 2011 the local resident agreed to deliver five illegal immigrants to Slovakia. For illegal trade he was going to receive 2.5 thousand U.S. dollars for each illegal immigrant.

The criminal had met Somalis in the village of Barvinok in Uzhgorod district and tried to transfer them by his own car to the village of Maly Berezny, which is situated near the Ukrainian-Slovak border.

In the village of Kamyanitsa of Uzhgorod district, Security Service of Ukraine officers detained the car, in which there were the smuggler and illegal migrants.

Uzhgorod city district court pled the trafficker guilty and sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment with a trial period of two years - the press center of the SSU.
