Nowadays Transcarpathian Regional Center of the Ukrainian Sport Federation of Disabled Athletes with the musculoskeletal system lesions has more than 700 members. All of them are actively seeking to get engaged in sports, but they hardly ever have proper conditions for this. Therefore, the leaders of the Transcarpathian unit are working to create a rehabilitation center.
So far co-operation with the investors (Germany, Netherlands), who agreed to finance the project, has been established. The problem lies just in the land for construction of the rehabilitation center. According to Alexander Lizanets, the Chairman of the Transcarpathian department, they are waiting for a response from the state administration on the allocation of the territory.
One of the biggest challenges for the organization has become the lack of training facilities for disabled athletes. Now the center is financed by "Invasport" and investors.
"Construction of a two-story complex, equipped for people with special needs, would help a considerable number of athletes. This rehabilitation center must have a hostel. Also, we need to provide a pool, gyms, as well as a team of highly qualified rehabilitators", – says Alexander Lizanets.
Competition in various sports for the disabled will be held on September 6. The best representatives will take part in All-Ukrainian competition in Alushta. The International billiards tournament, which last year gathered about 50 participants, will take place on November 15 and 16.
