The number of protests in Ukraine breaks records

Despite the coming of summer - the traditional vacation period and slack in the social and political life - the number of protests in Ukraine beats records.

Such are the results of the 'Center of the Society Study' research.

Thus, 321 protest events took place in May on the streets of Ukraine, and during June - at least 323, and also there were recorded 62 negative and 28 positive reactions to the protests.

Last time a record number of protests were recorded in March 2012 by CSS.

At the same time an absolute record on the number of protest events was beaten last week during the whole period of monitoring. At least 139 protest events took place since June 30 to July 6 on the streets of Ukraine, 27 negative and 19 positive reactions to the protests were recorded.

Thus, on average nearly 20 protest events took place every day last week.

One of the reasons of the protests’ outbreak under the walls of government institutions became the adoption of the law on languages.
