On Saturday, August 25, in Berehove a meeting of the Ukrainian Hungarian National Council will be held.

Chairman of the Democratic Union of Hungarians of Ukraine, Mayor of Berehove Istvan Gajdos in his comments to the Hungarian newspaper said that during Saturday's meeting of the Ukrainian Hungarian National Council, representatives of this national minority must discuss the application of recently adopted law "On the Principles of State Language Policy".

As noted by Istvan Gajdos, the language issue is and has been the subject of election campaigns, but there has not been any real steps in this direction. So next week, heads of local government at their meeting have to decide how to implement the provisions of the law on languages, analyze which of the potential measures could be financed from the local budget, and which one require the sources from the center.
