European Union begins with ... piles of garbage and human rights violations (PHOTOS)
Many things have been written about the ordeals of travelers at the border. But somehow the public only paid attention to the foreign journalists' criticism on the work of Ukrainian services, that allegedly delay inspection at the border. A recent trip to Hungary by uzhgorod.in journalists finally dispelled the myth of democracy, humanity and equal rights in this European state ...
Checkpoint "Tisa" was passed in 3 minutes. with all required control: customs officers quickly checked our car, border guards checked our passports. There was no separate lanes for citizens of "third countries" (i.e. behind the other developed countries in economic and social spheres), as practiced by our neighbors on the Slovak border.
And just as we crossed the customs and border strip we saw a long queue of cars. We asked why they stood there. The answer was more than clear: "Hungarian service is working very slowly."An hour later, we finally got to the last "barrier" between Ukraine and Hungary - "live" bridge. Here in the reverse direction on both sides both passenger cars and trucks drive. Up to Hungary the bridge is packed with cars full of people who are patiently waiting for Hungarian service to open their customs for scrutiny. Somewhere in the middle of the bridge we began to notice piles of debris that lay just on the road. In 33 degree heat this garbage was also stinking.
Of course, that made us completely change our view that the EU is cleanliness, order and culture. Once finally on the Hungarian customs we were even more surprised: checks, carried out on 6 lanes of 5-6 cars on each, took hours, while Ukrainian customs had only three lanes, and it went much faster! So which country is more civilized and which created comfortable conditions for crossing the border? And when it comes to human rights violations, then you understand wise Ukrainians - do not join any association of foreign countries ...
Our compatriots from Donetsk and Kharkiv had a very unpleasant surprise when the Hungarian customs officers asked them to complete pass on the importation of fuel not in English, German, or Russian, but in Hungarian! Travelers from distant regions could not figure out what is required from them and how to fill out a paper in inaccessible language?
Why should our workers who go to Italy, Portugal, Greece and Spain with their families, be forced to stand for hours at the entrance to the European country, so that they could "support" economies of these countries with their hard work? How to explain small kids who travel with their parents abroad, why they have to spend a bunch of time in incredible heat and why nobody cares about kids or pregnant women who come for advice to foreign doctors without proper road service in the border zone?
