TV "improvement": Over half a million Ukrainians will not receive free tuners

Seniors and citizens with low income are not going to receive free tuners from the government this year. The government has no money for the program publicized in 2012.

"In 2012, employees of the departments of labor and social protection collected 1.368 million applications. The funds provided in the budget are sufficient for 855,000 applicants. These people have received digital devices. Applications of 513,000 citizens have not been granted. It was hoped that applicants would receive them this year. However, in this year's budget the financing of these needs is not provided for", - said the director of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee Serhiy Abramov.

This information is confirmed by the people who wrote the application for free tuners.

Recall that in 2012 the government allocated 350 million hryvnias for the purchase of TV receivers for benefit holders. The State Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee stated that 32 channels will be available for viewing. The state undertook to provide benefit holders with free TV tuners for the reception of signal.
