Ukraine is a record-breaker according to the number of prisoners in jails

The number of dwellers who stay behind the bars without the proof of any guilt beats the European record. This is the official statistics, claims 1 business channel.

Ukraine takes the third place for the number of prisoners in Europe. Russia (111,200 people) and Turkey (64,900) are ahead of Ukraine. Human rights defenders believe that the reason is the severity of Ukrainian laws which provide criminal liability for even minor offenses.

Moreover, local law enforcement officers in the desire to achieve positive statistics are ready put any suspect under arrest.
