Trade unions call for working less

The unions are opposed to the introduction of irregular-hour working day, they stand for 35-hour week and demand a new version of the Labor Code of Ukraine to be rewritten. About such a decision of the representative body of National Trade Unions of Ukraine UNN was informed by the press service of the organization.
Chairman of National Forum of Trade Unions of Ukraine (NFTU) Myroslav Yakibchuk said that the unions will demand to reduce the workweek to 35 hours, and the number of working hours will not affect the reduction of wages. Thus, says Yakibchuk, employers will be forced to recruit new employees. As calculated the NFTU, it will provide an opportunity to provide jobs for at least 2 million people.
The slogans "Reducing the workweek to 35 hours", "No! to an irregular-hour working day” will become the main appeals, under which unions will lead the workers in the May Day demonstrations, said Miroslav Yakibchuk.
