The whole world remembers the ‘Titanic’ catastrophe today, repots Radio Svoboda. In connection with the 100th anniversary of the grievous event, various activities were held in many countries.

The memory of people who were perished during the catastrophe was honored with a moment of silence taken by the passengers and crew of the liner ‘Balmoral’, which passed the legendary route of the ship to the place of its destruction 100 years ago.

The memorial plaque with engraved catastrophe victims’ names on it was installed on the Belfast shipyard, the starting point of the fatal route.

We want to remind you that the largest ship at that time sank at night on April 15, 1912 in the middle of Atlantic Ocean within 2 hours and 40 minutes. 1517 passengers and crew members died and only 706 managed to survive.
