Ledyda to get a new deputy after Easter

Recently the Cabinet of Ministers approved the candidacy of a new deputy of the Transcarpathian Governor – Popovich Mykhailo Mukhailovych, as it became known to Uzhgorod.in. Popovich will succeed Vladimir Hoblyk who has been working as a vice-governor since 2005, meaning he was left for the current head of Regional State Administration Aleksandr Ledyda from the Viktor Baloga’s team.

Mykhaylo Popovych is the owner of the restaurant ‘Duet’ in Uzhgorod. He has been in politics since he headed the regional organization of the ‘Sylna Ukraina’ party since 2009. ‘Sylna Ukraina’ party beat the 4 percent barrier and got 4 ‘bayonets’ in the regional council during the local elections in Transcarpathia. Popovich will be the Ledida’s deputy thanks to the agreement between Prime Minister Sergei Tigipko and the Party of Regions on the appointment of the members of his party as deputies of 15 regional administrations (such agreement was preceded by the merger of the ‘Sylna Ukraina’ party with the Party of Regions).

We want to remind you that the Head of the Regional State Administration Alexandr Ledyda awarded party tickets to three new members of the party during the meeting of the Executive Committee of Transcarpathian regional organization of the Party of Regions, which for some reason, took place at the premises of Transcarpathian RSA at the end of March. They are Sergey Kovach, Mykhaylo Popovych and Vasyl Churey who used to belong to the ‘Sylna Ukraina’ party. One more deputy, the member of the ‘Sylna Ukraina’ party and the lecturer of Transcarpathian State University, Pavlo Cherevko refused to become a member of the Party of Regions. Ledyda increased his own faction up to 41 deputies in the regional council thanks to the unification of the political forces. The Transcarpathian members of the ‘Sulna Ukraina’ party in order to support the Party of Regions before elections ‘will keep in their fists’ not only the party lines but also administrative ones.
