Doubtful documents deprived the driver of the goods worth two million hryvnias

Chop customs officials have documented violations of customs legislation on illegal movement of goods, worth nearly 2 million hryvnias.

On his way from Italy to one of the Transcarpathian towns, a driver of the truck filled with goods submitted shipping documents, according to which he was transporting different commodities.

But when the inspectors took off the seal made by Italian customs authorities, fully unloaded the truck, unpacked goods, the actual number of goods turned out to be higher: instead of 377 shipping items there were 394. In addition, some products had markings that indicate that different business entities are the recipients of the goods.

In particular, sanitary products and chipboards were missing, but extra seven gas stoves, and a carpet have been discovered. The previously declared goods – furniture, lighting fixtures, doors, mirrors, fittings for furniture, etc. – did not correspond to the declared quantity and weight.

Illegal goods of total value 1,979,653 hryvnias have been seized until court’s decision.
