Best Kiev festival shorts will be shown in Uzhgorod

On May 8, a series of all-Ukrainian film screenings, which were presented at the first Kiev International Short Film Festival on April 20 – 22 in the capital, will be launched, Zagolovok informs.

In the regional center of Transcarpathia there will be presented the best works of film makers from Argentina, France, Slovakia, Brazil, Britain, Switzerland, Ukraine etc. Uzhgorod citizens will also see an animated movie directed by a Hungarian film maker Herman Arpad called "Forgive" which won the Grand Prix.

As the director of the first Kiev International Festival of Short Films Cyril Marikutsa remarked, it was extremely important for him to familiarize the local audience with the best works of contemporary film makers.
"The organizing committee of the festival decided not to stop on a purely metropolitan audience and enable film lovers from other regions to see the festival too. The series of all-Ukrainian film shows starts in Uzhgorod, and in the near future the screenings are planned in Lvov, Kharkov, Kherson and Kiev".

It is noteworthy that two citizens of uzhgorod have twice excelled at the festival, namely a film director Oleg Varfolomeyev presented the movie "The illusion of happiness," and a journalist Alex Umansky gave the premiere of the project "Ne_moe kino" (play on words: “немое” means ‘mute’, while не_мое would mean ‘not mine’, ‘not for me’).
Screening of the festival movies will be held on May 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the Puppet Theater "Bavka".
