New rules at the borders of the EU: will they affect Transcarpathians?

According to European media, on April 7, representatives of border services at the external borders of the EU introduce new rules of identification and border clearance using appropriate databases.

These changes come into effect on the basis of the Resolution of the European Parliament and the EU Council 2017/458 dd. March 15, 2017 and do not directly affect the citizens of Ukraine.

Currently, EU citizens under EU laws have the right for free movement, which is based on the simplified border crossing procedure. After the entry into force of the above Resolution, such persons when entering and leaving the territory of the Member States will have to undergo border control at the external borders followed by registration in the database, that has not been done before the effective date of this Resolution.

European law enforcement note that the tasks, that are part of their duties, will not affect border traffic at the checkpoints on the border with Ukraine.
