According to MÁV official information, new double-decker trains will start running on the Budapest Nyugati-Cegléd-Szolnok line on March 15, the MyHungary.Net reported.
The second test run with passengers will take place in April on the Budapest Nyugati-Vác-Szob line. The new trains are designed for 600 seats, which will certainly unload the crowded trains that are no longer able to cope with commuter traffic. German company Stadler Rail, the train manufacturer, said that after the launch of two test trains, eleven more would start carrying passengers in August. The Hungarian national railway company MÁV commissined forty such two-story trains. Stadler Rail committed to fulfill the MÁV order by the end of 2022. After replenishing the fleet, MÁV-START will be able to provide services to its passengers on all commuter routes leading to Budapest with the latest trains Siemens Desiro, Stadler FLIRT and Stadler KISS.
