Yesterday, January 25, at about 19:00, Khust district police was reported that in the village of Rokosovo an unknown car had hit a pedestrian, and the driver fled from the scene.
The investigative team arrived at the scene. Law enforcers found out that an unknown car had hit a cyclist, a 51-year-old resident of Rokosovo. The unconscious man was taken to the resuscitation facility of the district hospital.
Soon after, the police found the driver, he was a 21-year-old resident of Rokosovo. As it turned out, the young driver of a car "Opel Sintra" with Czech registration, being in a state of intoxication, hit the cyclist and left the scene of the accident.
The driver was tested – 1.7 ppm of alcohol was found in his blood. The car was taken to the impound lot of Khust police.
A criminal proceeding over the incident was initiated under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of the Rules of Road Safety). Investigators are establishing the circumstances of the accident.
The victim with multiple polytrauma is in the intensive therapy.
