Today, on June 13, the Chairman of the Regional Council Mykhailo Rivis received an honorable delegation of the Slovak Republic diplomatic service veterans, who had arrived to Transcarpathia for a familiarization visit, the press service of the Regional Council informs. Among them, there was Milan Dubcek, son of Alexander Dubcek, Czechoslovakian statesman, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia from 1968 to 1969, the initiator of the reform course known as the Prague Spring. Another member of the delegation was Silvester Minarovic – the chairman of the League of Diplomacy Seniors. The delegation was accompanied by the Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod, Miroslav Mojzita, and the diplomat on economic issues of the Consulate-General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod, Daniel Caban, as well as the acting representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in Uzhgorod, Mykhailo Dzykhor. Mykhailo Rivis greeted the distinguished guests, thanked for the attention to our region, noted the diligence and sincerity of the diplomats of the neighboring countries, including Slovakia and the Czech Republic in strengthening Ukraine’s position among the European states and warm neighborly relations with our country, which helps to overcome the challenges of our time. The diplomats assured the Chairman of the Regional Council in continued support, thanked for the warm reception and in a relaxed atmosphere shared their stories, professional views on the current diplomacy, wished prosperity for our country, and happiness for the people. At the end, Mykhailo Rivis, for his part, wished the veteran diplomats a good rest in our region and pleasant experience, since the program is full of interesting meetings and activities. The guests took the opportunity to ride in the paternoster – a unique elevator established here in 1936 and developed by the Czechoslovak company "Českomoravská Kolben-Daněk". Today, it is the only elevator of this kind in Ukraine.
