Today is a day of mourning in Transcarpathia. On July 6, around 6 am, Ukraine lost three defenders. All of them were Transcarpathians, two Uzhgorod citizens, one from Perechyn. Tactical exercises of the 128th separate mountain assault brigade took place in close to combat conditions. They were held at the Rivne training range involving armored vehicles and aircrafs," – the Opinion informs.
This piece was planned before the terrible tragedy that happened at the training ground. We wanted to show the how our soldiers train, to show Ukrainians and the world how our army lives, and to convey the positive atmosphere from there.
However, a tragedy happened. As a result of the explosion of the "Molot" mortar, in the morning of July 6, three soldiers were killed and nine were injured. The training was suspended, the investigation is ongoing.
The mentioned weapon has a bad reputation among the soldiers: in the course of the Russian-Ukrainian war, there have been accident when the mortar would blow up, killing and wounding our soldiers. On July 6, the Commander-in-Chief – President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko – banned the use of the "Molot"…
When preparing the photo story today, we decided to focus on the faces of our mountain stormtroopers. To show the world the people for whom risking their lives everyday is a reality, even routine.
Respect and honor to the defenders of Ukraine! We are proud of our troops!
We are mourning for the deceased.
We pray for the wounded.
