Most Transcarpathians migrate to Hungary and the Czech Republic

Transcarpathian Migration Service analyzed the results of their activity.

Today, November 4, on the expanded board of the Main Directorate of the SMS of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region, chaired by the curator of the Service – the Deputy Head of the region Ivan Kachur – they analyzed the results of work for nine months of this year.

Thus, within this period, in Transcarpathia they have issued 26,000 passports of a citizen of Ukraine and nearly 35,000 foreign passports. 374 residents of the region have received permission to leave for permanent residence in foreign countries. The most popular countries for emigration among Transcarpathians continue to be Hungary and the Czech Republic.

The head of the migration service Igor Mykhailyshyn drew the attention of the present heads of structural and territorial subdivisions to the tasks as defined at the last meeting of the SMS board.  These include the implementation of the Law "On the Unified state register of demographic and proof of citizenship of Ukraine, identity or special status of a person" regarding the introduction of biometric documents.  Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the plan of measures for implementation of the Program of economic reforms for 2012-2014 "Prosperous Society, Competitive Economy, Effective State" and the status of implementation of the Cabinet of Ministers orders to establish cooperation with local authorities in order to simplify the procedure of provision of administrative services.     

The Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the SMS in the region Oleksandr Berdar spoke about the problematic issues that arise in the work of departments. He stressed out the close cooperation with working groups on legalization of employment.

At the meeting, they also discussed the issue of the integration of refugees into Ukrainian society, the control over the stay of foreigners in the region and the fight against illegal migration.

Following the discussion, the Board adopted a number of decisions, the implementation of which will contribute to the improvement of the work of the migration service in the region.
