Moskal was angered by the behavior of activists during a torchlight procession in Uzhgorod

As we reported on Sunday, March 13, during a torchlight procession on the streets of Uzhgorod, which was held by representatives of right-wing organizations in honor of the heroes of Carpathian Ukraine, they were shouting slogans offensive to the Hungarians, the video of which was posted in the Internet and published by many Hungarian media. Remarkably, the participants of the march were defiantly chanting anti-Hungarian slogans on the square named after famous Hungarian poet Sandor Petofi, which caused outrage not only in the Hungarian community of the region but all of Transcarpathia.

– This behavior is unacceptable in a civilized society, – the head of the Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal said. – It degrades Transcarpathia and pushes Ukraine away from Europe. We remember complicated pages of the past with our neighbors, we honor heroes of Ukraine and yet we want to live in a society with European values ​​which guarantee inter-ethnic tolerance and mutual respect.

Complicated relationships in the past have occurred in the history of each nation, but modern Europe looks forward and builds its policy on the basis of mutually beneficial relations in culture, economy and cross-border cooperation. This is the path that Ukraine has chosen too. Unfortunately, in any society, there are people who spread hatred. But I know that the behavior of the torchlight procession participants (most of whom were not local) has no support in Transcarpathia.
