Moskal disclosed the letter of the Embassy of Ukraine in Slovakia, with which they tried to smuggle cigarettes from Ukraine under guise of diplomatic cargo
– Since the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, even three days after the detention of the "diplomatic contraband", cannot find the letter of the Embassy of Ukraine in Slovakia, with which they tried to carry a large batch of illegal cigarettes to Hungary, I am publishing this document for the public – the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal wrote. – Apparently, the letter is written in Ukrainian and Slovak on the official letterhead of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Slovak Republic under № 6139 / 24-612-920 dd. 19.05.2016.
There is a stamp seal and signature of the 1st Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine Oksana Lishchyshyn. The recipient is: "To whom it may concern, customs and border guard authorities." And the text: "This is to confirm that from 21.05.2016 to 24.05 2016, the diplomatic vehicle Volkswagen transporter EE 24158 is carrying a diplomatic cargo. According to the Vienna Convention it shall not be subject to control." We all hope that the official investigation into this scandal will be quick and the conclusions will be strict.
In passing, I once again appeal to the Verkhovna Rada – it’s high time to criminalize the smuggling of excise goods in Ukraine, as it is in the EU. It is impossible to fight contraband, which is carried by ordinary citizens, as well as gentlemen with diplomatic passports, with just reports of violations and symbolic penalties.
