According to the Transcarpathian Center for Hydrometeorology, during 2 to 5 of February in the highlands of Transcarpathia there was heavy snowfall, with blizzards.
The growth of the fresh snow during this period is 40-60 cm.Total snow depth is very uneven. A layer of the fresh snow is loosely attached to the old, dense snow cover. Snow cover, especially on steep (over 30 degrees) slopes is unstable. Heavy snowfall in the region ceased on February 6. As of February 7, the degree of avalanche hazard decreased. February 8, in the highlands of Transcarpathia there is a danger of artificial avalanche formation caused by people, even at a slight extra load.
