Markovich promises: the roads have been and will be repaired

Throughout the last year, Transcarpathians were complaining about the poor state of most highways. According to the chief of the Road Service in Transcarpathian region Vasyl Markovich it was primarily associated with inadequate funding. In total, the construction, reconstruction, major and routine repairs of roads, as well as their operational maintenance was funded in the amount of 107.1 million hryvnias from the state budget and 3.3 million hryvnias from local budgets. They have not received 52.6 million hryvnias, or 30.9 percent of the amount provided in the budget.

This year, the chief of the regional Road Service believes, may be a year of changes in the industry. Road Service prepared reasonable propositions for the repair and maintenance of regional roads totaling 410 million hryvnias. Separately, the proposals provide for allocation of 315 million hryvnias to continue work on the construction of the bypass road around the village of Rakoshyno on the Kyiv – Chop highway and the construction of the bypass around Beregovo. Transcarpathians have been waiting for them for many years. 

In January, road services in Transcarpathian region did not waste time too. Due to the warm weather and lack of snow, they were eliminating pits and potholes.

– Patch repair in January was performed with pre-made cold asphalt and hot asphalt over an area of ​​7570 square meters, particularly 4390 square meters – on the roads of national importance and 3180 square meters – on the roads of local importance. These works were particularly active in Mukachevo, Vynogradiv and Beregovo district. As soon as the road are freed from the snow, road work will be continued, – Vasyl Markovich said.
