“Like chickens on the roost.” Uzhgorod teenagers destroyed the original bike rack (Photo-fact)

In July last year, young artists participated in the project of Uzhgorod cycling activist Vitaliya Munchak and designed an excellent covered bike rack at the end of Uralska street.

Young artists decorated the linguistic gymnasium wall, depicting a kind of map of Uzhgorod indicating the major tourist sites. The rack itself was made and installed by workers of the "Turbogaz." It looked extraordinary and attractive.

But today we were informed that the bike rack had been broken…

The woman, who called us, works in an office nearby and walks by this bike rack every day. She said that high school age teens were used to "hang out" there in evenings. Because of that, the area around the object is always littered with glass, peel and beer bottles.

And also teenagers would get on the rack and swing on it.

– Personally, I have repeatedly made remarks that they can break the bar for bicycles to be chained to. It would work for a couple of minutes, but as soon as I would turn away, they would sit on it again like chickens on the roost. Here is the result… – the woman sighs.
