Liability for driving by a person not entitled to it has become stricter

Strengthening of the administrative responsibility for offenses in the field of road safety under Part 2 and Part 3 of Art. 126 of the CAO of Ukraine is fixed by the law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the Judicial System and Status of Judges" and procedural laws for additional measures to protect the safety of citizens. 

Thus, operation of a vehicle by a person who has no right to operate such vehicle, or transfer of control of a vehicle to a person who has no right to operate such vehicle shall be punishable by a fine in amount of 850 to 1700 UAH with or without compensated confiscation of the vehicle from its owner.

Driving a vehicle by a person deprived of the right to drive vehicles shall be punishable by a fine ranging from 850 to 2550 UAH with or without compensated confiscation of the vehicle from its owner.

The cases on said administrative offenses shall be in the competence of the courts in accordance with Art. 221 of the CAO.  The law takes effect on January 22, 2014.
