Center of Levocha – a Slovakian town population which does not reach even 15,000 people -is an open-air museum on history of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. It is also a tutorial on at least one subject: how to save, how not to lose a beautiful city.
Medieval plaster pieces have fallen off in some places, exposing the stones from the 15th century, corrosion damages the railing and a face can be barely seen at the fresco, but all of this is incredibly beautiful and touching.
The city retains old-world charm that is not spoiled by modern interventions. The preserved center of Levocha is a world heritage site by UNESCO since 2009, and now one can be sure in its destiny – if the adornment of the city will be taken, it will be done only under professional supervision.
Now Levocha is a tourist city.
