Ledyda made it clear that he also controls Nahirny’s case. To make sure no one would catch him

On Tuesday, April 9, the head of the region Oleksandr Ledyda met with the Prosecutor of the Transcarpathian region Anatoly Petrunya.

In particular, they discussed the high-profile Pavlo Nahirny’s case. Oleksandr Ledyda said:

   – The case must be investigated objectively and impartially. The resonance, which exists today around this situation, and the social control, of course, must only encourage all law enforcement agencies, the judicial branch to transparency.

In turn, the regional prosecutor Anatoly Petrunya clarified some aspects of the situation:

   – We expect the results of the appeal of the Khust District Court decision to return the case for investigation in general terms. Since initially the case had been remitted to the Khust District Court to impose on Nahirny medical measures, because according to Lviv medical examination at the time he was in a insane state. Thus, by the court decision he was put in medical institution. That is, at the time of discharge from Beregovo hospital, the prosecutors had referred the case to court and neither we nor the police had legal grounds for his detention after the discharge, or any other actions.

Upon the return of the case for further investigation, it will be conducted in a general manner, and the indictment act will be referred to the court. Moreover, the prosecutor’s office will initiate a preventive measure – keeping Nahirny in custody, Anatoly Petrunya summed up.
