From September 28 to October 1, Uzhgorod, which will be celebrating its birthday, will become a real mecca for stamp collectors from all over Ukraine and beyond.
The capital of Transcarpathia has the honor to host the National Philatelic Exhibition this year. The reason for this is the activities of the regional association of philatelists, which in the period from 2014 to 2016 successfully organized five philatelic exhibitions in Uzhgorod (two citywide and three regional) with the participation of collectors from other regions and countries. Therefore, the Association of Philatelists of Ukraine granted the regional organization the right to host the exhibition in the highest status – the National.
This year’s exhibition will be the fifteenth and will be held in Transcarpathia for the first time.
The exhibition will take place in the premises of the Transcarpathian Regional Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater. There will be tours for students and other visitors.
Also, during the exhibition, there will be the presentation of the catalogue, three special cancellations of thematic stamps ("15th National Philatelic Exhibition", "Ukrainian minorities – Roma" and "International Year of Tourism") and the presentation of the permanent stamp "Uzhgorod – a European city."
