It has become known what kind of trees will be planted on Sandor Petofi square

Taking into account the opinion of Uzhgorod residents, the Liquidambar will be planted on Sandor Petofi square.

The Liquidambar has large (up to 20 cm) bright green palmatilobate leaves looking like some species of maple. The tree is especially attractive in autumn, when the leaves become dark-purple, or purple-brown, orange, red. 

It is a light-loving plant that is resistant to urban conditions. It can grow up to 10-20 m high, the crown is pyramid-shaped 6-12 m wide, life expectancy is up to 100 years.

The public consultations, during which the Uzhgorod City Council studied the opinion of city residents about the trees that should be planted on the renovated pedestrian part of Sandor Petofi square, took place until October 25. 6 species of trees were proposed.

1,258 people took place in the voting. 419 votes were cast for the liquidambar, 379 votes – for sakura, 222 votes – for maple.
