Uzhgorod is losing green areas – they are being gradually taken away from the community to build on. We know that from time to time, there appears the information that neighborhood residents may lose another park or playground. And every time the news are a surprise to people. How many more "surprises" will we have? Let’s try to understand it together, and thus, to protect ourself from losing adjacent territories!
So how can residents of high-rise buildings protect themselves from construction on the surrounding areas? The best option is to form a condominium and register the corresponding land under and around the house. However, given the ambiguity, complexity and duration of the process, there are other options that can protect our yards from investors.
In January 2013 the State Agency for Land Resources enacted the cadastral map of Ukraine, here is the link: http://www.map.land.gov.ua/kadastrova-karta. It displays all land lots, properly registered in the State Land Cadastre of Ukraine. By this particular resource we can check whether our yards are already sold or not.
How to use this resource.
Select Transcarpathian region, Uzhgorod, find your street and house on the map, and see all the land registered to date.
For example, selecting Dostoevsky str., 2, we can see the infamous plots.
After a few minutes of viewing, the author found another questionable lot near the apartment buildings between the streets of 8 Bereznya, General Svoboda and Mozhaisky.
What will the information about the sold land give us?
At a minimum, you may contact the City Council with a request to notify you of the number and date of the decision that the land was sold under. This will allow to appeal this decision in court. But the main thing is publicity. If you find out that part of your yard or park was sold, involve the public, prosecutors, journalists, MPs, and I hope you will succeed.
