The Health Department of the Uzhgorod City Council reported that 17 students are currently being treated in the regional clinical infectious hospital. Fifteen patients are being treated with antibiotics which will continue for 2 weeks and then will be re-examined. Two students were admitted to the hospital yesterday, October 27 – they were suspected of having a diphtheria pathogen and although there were no clinical signs of illness, they were hospitalized for observation. All the sick students are in good condition.
In the last 4 days, 3,600 people in Uzhgorod have been vaccinated against diphtheria. Additional vaccination points for UzhNU students have been opened at the following addresses: Nezalezhnist emb., 22, Universytetska st., 14 and Universytetska st., 10, they have been working without days off.
