On Tuesday, April 2, in Uzhgorod Sport Complex "Yunist" there was the ceremony of the closing of the nationwide youth handball competition for girls born in 1996-97. The Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration Ivan Kachur congratulated the winners.
The final tournament of the nationwide youth handball competition in Uzhgorod lasted for five days. In addition to local athletes, handball teams from Lviv, Kyiv, Ternopil, Kherson regions and the city of Kyiv came to Transcarpathia to compete for prizes.
– It is no coincidence that this event is held on the territory of Transcarpathia, because women’s handball is a special sport for our region. We have history, traditions and significant achievements in this sport: "Karpaty" – the champion of Ukraine, as well as a large number of fans and supporters – Ivan Kachur said.
According to the results of four rounds, the team of Lviv region won the first place, hosts of the competition – handball team from Transcarpathia – won the second place, the third place went to athletes from the Kyiv region.
The best players in the tournament were: Natalia Sabova (Lviv) – 1st place, Tetyana Kylch (Transcarpathian region), Daria Chalaya (Kherson).
