Today in Uzhgorod the seminar to mark the World Environment Day of the Creator God began. It was organized by the State Environmental Protection Administration in the Transcarpathian region, together with the NGO "Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies." Its purpose is to prepare a draft program of cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and the churches and religious organizations towards saving the environment.
Opening the meeting, the head of the Environment Administration Andriy Pogorelov welcomed the participants. Later speakers explained why the church should care for the environment. And bishops Milan Shashik, Antal Majnek and Archpriest Dimitry Sidor told about the achievments of ecology commissions in Greek Catholic, Roman Catholic and Orthodox dioceses.
Following the seminar, the participants should prepare a draft program of cooperation and adopt a resolution.
