In Transcarpathia, voters suggested to optimize the constituencies taking ito account minority rights

Due to the request of the Society of Hungarian culture in Transcarpathia, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Valeriy Lunchenko appealed to the President of Ukraine and the Central Election Commission to incorporate the interests of national minorities in Transcarpathia, in particular Hungarians, who live compactly in the territory of Beregovo and Vynogradiv district, Transcarpathian region, in terms of implementation of their voting rights.

In accordance with paragraph 3 of part 2 of the Law of Ukraine dd. November 21, 2013 № 709-VII "On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine concerning improvement of legislation on the conduct of elections" bounderies of single-mandate constituencies are determined taking into account the boundaries of administrative units, interests of local community and national minorities living in the respective territory.

In order to implement voting rights of the national Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia, to enable them to represent their interests in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Valeriy Lunchenko asked to amend the Resolution of the Central Election Commission dd. April 28, 2012 № 82 "On the establishment of single-mandate constituencies on a regular basis in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, regions, cities of Kyiv and Sevastopol" in order to establesh a separate single-mandate constituency within Beregovo and Vynogradiv districts in Transcarpathian region.
